MEDx Demo Licensing

Below are instructions for obtaining a Demo License for MEDx. If you have already received a MEDx demo CD, please fill out the Demo License Request form. If you have not received a demo CD, please download the MEDx program from our ftp site.

About MEDx Licenses

A MEDx license is a per-seat license. The license entitles you to use the software on the machine for which the license has been purchased. Any number of users may use the software from the same machine at different times. Up to 5 users may use the software on the same machine simultaneously. For more details, see the demo software license agreement.

Obtaining a Demo License With the MEDx CD

If you already have the MEDx Demo CD, you must run the installation script on the CD to install MEDx. After you have installed MEDx from the CD, please perform  the following steps:

• Run the sysid program from the bin directory of the MEDx distribution. For example, if MEDx was installed in /usr/medx then enter the following:

/usr/medx/bin/sysid -host

• Fill out the Demo License Request Form using the information printed out by the sysid program. You will receive confirmation that this information was mailed to Medical Numerics.

• You will receive a temporary MEDx license and instructions about how to enter the license information in MEDx.

Obtaining a Demo License Without the MEDx CD

Please download the program called sysid.exe for your desired platform from the list below. This will enable us to create a license key for your machine.

• sysid.exe for Linux
• sysid.exe for SGI
• sysid.exe for Solaris

Once you have downloaded the sysid.exe program for your platform, please do the following: 

• Make sure that sysid.exe has execute permissions:

chmod +x sysid.exe   

• Run the sysid.exe program: 

sysid.exe -host 

• Fill out the Demo License Request Form using the information printed out by the sysid.exe program. You will receive confirmation that this information was mailed to Medical Numerics. 

• If you have not done so already, install the MEDx software on your computer.

• You will receive a temporary MEDx license and instructions about how to enter the license information in MEDx.
