Q: How do I save out a group of volumes as a group of individual AVW (Analyze) files?

This is usually required if you want to transfer a group of images into SPM which expects that you have individual images as individual files.

Among the scripts distributed with MEDx (in the tcl directory) there will be one called SaveAVW.tcl. Running this while viewing a group page will let you save out all the images as individual AVW files in a directory of your choosing.

On executing the script a widget will pop us asking you for a root name which will be the name assigned to all your images with a number i.e if you say Run, your images will be named Run0001.hdr/img, Run0002.hdr/img and so on.

Note: If you are simply interested in saving these files as AVW for future use in MEDx you also have the option to save these files out as 4D AVW files. To do this simply go to Image -> Save Group As and select AVW.
