Q: Analyzing the Motion Detection Plots
In general, you should expect a reduction in the motion shown in the
plots before and after motion correction. However, because the motion
detection algorithm only reports change in translational motion, it is
possible for the motion correction algorithm to remove substantial rotational
motion and to see very little improvement in the motion detection plots.
Lastly, if the first and last slice of the functional image data includes
brain it possible for the motion correction algorithm to rotate some of
the data out of the volume. This lost data can throw off the motion detection
algorithm when comparing the plots before and after motion correction.
We have added the ability to limit the calculation of the motion detection
algorithm to a subset of the slices in a volume to alleviate this problem.
